The Welsh Short Mat Championships were badly affected by the foot & mouth epidemic but the Welsh Association managed to complete them before the summer. The Champions hold their titles for 12 months until the 2002 Nationals. As with the other home nations, the successful champions have been invited to represent Wales at the British Isles Championships.
